Welcome to IDGA’s Border Management Summit North

See the brochure for full session information

The northern border of the US has become increasingly important to national security. From both the American and Canadian perspectives, this longest shared international border in the world is crucially important, and a safe, efficient border is necessary for the well-being of all citizens. Canada and the U.S. are each others’ largest trading partners and over $30 billion dollars of goods and services cross the border each year-- our highly integrated and interdependent economies depend on smart and efficient border management. This management is crucial to North American security and competitiveness, particularly during these lean economic times. Bearing this in mind, U.S. and Canadian governments are committed to promoting a secure and efficient border built around 21st-Century infrastructure, technology, and policies.

With tighter budgets on both sides of the border, there is a greater need for efficiency, collaboration and reducing duplicity while maximizing services. However, national security is not to be compromised on either side of the border, and there is still significant money to be spent on various programs designed to protect the safety and wellbeing of both countries’ citizens and economic interests.

Additionally, a renewed commitment from both sides on the continual update of technology securing the border region has occurred over the past year. The US and Canada have been working together on a “Beyond the Border” strategy that has a “shared vision for perimeter security and economic competitiveness” , a clear confirmation of their commitment to technology upgrades related to border security and information sharing among all involved parties.

This event will focus on:

  • CSI: Container Security Initiative
  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program
  • Agriculture Inspections
  • Tactical Infrastructure and SBInet
  • Technology Initiatives, including Biometrics, RFID tech, Radar, and Radio

Don’t miss the opportunity to discover new solutions and start new partnerships in this high-level, yet intimate setting that allows for genuine dialogue and information sharing.
