Mr. Tombe has more than 25 years of IT management experience in the Federal government serving in a variety of Agencies on both the West and East coast. Mr. Tombe has served as the Chief Technology Officer of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the country’s largest law enforcement agency since 2005. Mr. Tombe is leading the formation of cross-cutting integrated technology strategies and architectures, the establishment of CBP’s Strategic Technology Direction and its associated Information Technology Transformation initiatives.
Mr. Tombe provides leadership on technology planning, architecture, standards, and the adoption of industry best practices for technology management. In December of 2008, Mr. Tombe founded the first US Government “Federal CTO Forum” in recognition of the tremendous benefits to be gained by reusing technology best practices and innovations among Federal Agencies.
Mr. Tombe is the recipient of numerous high profile awards and honors. In 2013, he was named a Fed 100 Executive of the year and in 2012 he was named a Federal Executive of the Year by FedScoop. Mr. Tombe is a widely recognized public speaker on topics of innovation in government, open standards, agile methodologies, and strategies that reduce the cost of government.
Mr. Tombe earned a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. He is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute.
